Bob recalled this story from 1948 in California.
Claude Jr was about 15. A classmate Tom was riding a bicycle and was struck by a car. He went through the windshield and it severed his carotid artery. Luckily for him a Doctor was passing by and stopped, tying off the artery and the boy survived.
After this Rosemary went to a PTA meeting and heard other mothers talking about the accident and they thought it was Claude Jr. Yet none of them said anything to Rosemary and she was astonished by that.
Tom had quite a scar on his neck from the accident.
